A Legacy of Love: Jackie's Baskets Gives Back

Over the past decade, the Virginia Women and Family Support Center has been blessed by an incredible outpouring of support from local businesses, community organizations, and dedicated volunteers. Their generosity has made it possible for us to continue serving women and children experiencing homelessness and to provide hope during some of life's most difficult moments.

As we celebrate our 10-year anniversary, we're honored to spotlight the people and organizations whose kindness has helped further our mission. Today, we're proud to share one of those stories.

Last week, we received an incredible donation from Debbie Stachkunas of Jackie's Baskets. The donation included bags filled with diapers, baby bottles, clothing, toys, and beautifully handmade blankets. Many of these donations will be included in our maternal health boxes, providing families with diapers, wipes, bottles, clothing, and other baby essentials. By helping offset more than $600 in monthly infant care costs, these supplies ease financial stress and ensure parents have the resources they need to care for their babies.

We’d also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Rose for delivering these thoughtful gifts and helping make this generous donation possible.

The story behind Jackie's Baskets is one of love, resilience, and hope. Debbie founded the organization in honor of her daughter, Jackie, whom she adopted just before her third birthday. Despite facing significant health challenges, including cerebral palsy, heart conditions, and cognitive impairments, Jackie brought immense joy and inspiration to those who knew her. Although Jackie passed away just three years later, her legacy lives on through the mission of Jackie's Baskets, which continues to bring comfort and support to families in need.

Donations like this provide much more than essential supplies. They reflect the compassion of a community committed to walking alongside the women and children we serve. 

We are deeply grateful to Debbie, Rose, and everyone at Jackie’s Baskets for their kindness and for helping provide hope, support, and essential resources to families in need.
