FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HAYMARKET, VIRGINIA, JULY 14TH, 2026 - The Virginia Women and Family Support Center is inviting community members to celebrate a decade of housing, healing, and hope for women and children at its 10th Anniversary Open House event. The event will take place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Haymarket House, 6740 Fayette St., Haymarket, VA 20169.
Guests will have the opportunity to tour the original home where the organization's mission began and learn more about the impact it has made over the past ten years. Virginia Women and Family Support Center will share information about the organization’s three major programs: the Breaking Cycles Residential Program, Carried To Full Term Maternal Health Program, and StrongHer Generation Thrift Store.
The Haymarket House currently provides safe housing for seven women and fifteen children, serving pregnant women and young mothers experiencing homelessness. Residents who reside at the Haymarket House take part in the Breaking Cycles Residential Program - a two-year residential program that provides comprehensive support in education, employment, trauma-informed mental and maternal health care, and financial stability, empowering participants to achieve lasting independence and break the cycle of homelessness.
During the open house, visitors can explore the home, meet members of the organization, and gain a better understanding of the services and support offered to families in need
Light refreshments will be available throughout the event, creating a welcoming space for elected officials, business leaders, community members, supporters, and local partners to celebrate this important milestone.
"For 10 years, we have opened our doors and our hearts to women and families facing homelessness, providing more than just housing. We have provided hope, stability, and the tools needed to rebuild their futures. Through two years of supportive housing, education, and life-changing resources, we walk alongside our mothers as they regain independence, strengthen their families, and create a brighter tomorrow,” shared Binja Bahirwe, the Resident Manager at the Virginia Women and Family Support Center.
