For many families, transportation is more than just a convenience; it is a lifeline. Without reliable access to a ride, something as simple as getting to a job interview or making it to a doctor's appointment can feel impossible. For mothers experiencing homelessness, these barriers can have a lasting impact, making the path toward stability and independence feel even further out of reach.
Since 2016, the Virginia Women and Family Support Center has walked alongside pregnant women and children experiencing homelessness by providing safe housing, trauma-informed care, job training, and the resources families need to not only survive but truly thrive.
Every milestone our families achieve is made possible by the kindness and unwavering support of our community. Every donation, volunteer, and act of encouragement helps move a mother one step closer to the future she and her children deserve.
That spirit of community was recently demonstrated through the generosity of Latonya Hamilton-Thomas, founder of Operation Helping Kids, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting families when they need it most.

Latonya donated Uber gift cards to the women in our residential program, providing a dependable means of transportation for job interviews, work shifts, and medical appointments.
For mothers balancing work, parenting, and rebuilding their lives, removing transportation barriers creates new opportunities to succeed.
As one resident shared:
"The Uber gift cards help me get to maternal health classes, appointments, and work."
It may seem like a simple gift, but for a mother working every day to build a better future, reliable transportation can make all the difference. Thank you, Latonya, for investing in our residents' journeys. Your generosity is helping change lives, one ride at a time.
Help Us Keep Our Doors Open
For 10 years, we have provided safe housing and support to mothers, children, and newborns, helping families build stable and brighter futures. Our goal is to raise $250,000 to continue this life-changing work. Every gift helps keep families safe, supported, and moving toward stability.
